Jason Avezzano is a writer, director, and performer based in Los Angeles, California, by way of the glorious state of New Jersey. Deeply influenced by his background in theater, Jason's work explores the emotional connections we have with ourselves and one another. His works are character-driven, personal, often quirky, and reflective, blending humor and heart with an authentic human perspective.

Avezzano has directed a variety of short films, spec projects, and music videos throughout Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago. In 2019, he directed his first feature film, Love Dump, written by a pair of Second City comedy writers from Chicago. The film was an Official Selection of the Slamdance Film Festival and earned numerous accolades, including Best Feature at the Canadian Film Festival, Best Narrative Feature at the Boston Independent Film Awards, and Best Comedy at the New York Independent Cinema Awards. His original short film, Open, screened at Ahrya Fine Arts Theater.

In addition to his film work, Avezzano has a strong background in live theater. He co-created, wrote, produced, and performed in the original musical parody Susan Bones: The Untold Story of the Horsegirl Who Went to Hogworts, a comedic reimagining of the wizarding world that developed a devoted cult following through its blend of sharp satire, original music, and affectionate parody.

His most recent short film, Daddies Boi, a comedy following the misadventures of two aging sugar babies, is currently making its way through the festival circuit, with screenings at NewFest, Slamdance Film Festival, Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival, the Temecula Valley International Film Festival, and others.

When he's not making films, Jason teaches high school theater, filmmaking, and multimedia arts in Los Angeles, where he is passionate about helping the next generation of storytellers discover their voices and bring their creative visions to life.
